The route that Marcus will take is largely based on the End to End trail put together by Andy Robinson in his fantastic book published by Cicerone. The trail tries to stay off road wherever possible and takes in some of the classic long distance paths in the UK such as the South West Coast Path, Offa’s Dyke Path, the Pennine Way and the West Highland Way. One of the main aims of this journey is to see some of the best bits of this country, and the End to End trail seems to do exactly that.
It’s roughly 1200 miles give or take a mile or three.
Kirsty’s route will stay on road and will be quite a bit further but intersecting Marcus’s route at strategic points and at the end of each day.
